The Great Falling Away

Does Biblical prophecy interest You?

If you were a True Christian it would.

For understanding what is to come - is the key to recognizing prophetic events as they unfold.

So what if I told you that one of the most important events of scriptural End Time fulfillment had occurred this past year and went by virtually unnoticed by the entire Christian and secular world?
     Well it did!
Yet - newspapers didn't write about it.
It wasn't broadcast on the radio.
The evening TV News-anchor made no mention of it at all -
And not even one Church leader, Biblical scholar, Evangelist or the like, said so much as a word about it.
This landmark event (one of the most urgent signs that we are living in the time just prior to The Lord's Second Advent), just came and went without any of them having so much as a clue, that in their oblivion, God's hand was moving mightily toward the accomplishment of his plan.
What was this incredible event and why didn't anyone realize it's passing?
To answer that, let's examine Paul's second letter to the Thessalonians where he tells us some of the signs we are to look for, directly before Christ's return to earth as conqueror and King.

"Now concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our being assembled to meet him ... Let no one deceive you in any way; for that day will not come, unless the rebellion [in the original greek: apostasy - 'great falling away'] comes first, and the lawless [one] is revealed, the son of perdition..."    2Thess 2:1,3
And also in his letter to Timothy -
"Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits and doctrines of devils..."   1Timothy 4:1
     And the prophet Amos -
"Behold, the days come, saith the Lord God, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the Lord..."   Amos 8:11
So before Christ's Second Coming a GREAT APOSTASY or simply put, FALLING AWAY OF GOD'S PEOPLE is prophesied to take place.
Meaning, the True Church will denounce God's truth -
And turning to a false doctrine will institute a total abdication of it's beliefs.
It will be an abandonment of the Word unlike anything that has ever happened in the history of Christianity!
Do you know of any church that this has happened to?
Certainly not any of the traditional Christian churches.
Yet as I have told you, this has in fact already come to pass.
You see, no one knew what to look for -
     They didn't know the sign.
Not many even realize that there is a "True Church".
     Most people probably don't care.
     Do you?
If you were a True Christian you would!
So which of the churches in existence today might it be?
Can they all be His church?
Well, since their doctrines all differ and are often contradictory or at odds with each other; and we know that God is the author of oneness, not discord -
     That can't be so.
     So which one is it?
     Is it the biggest one?
     The richest one?
Perhaps the one with the most elegant cathedrals or most beautiful stained glass?
Is it the one you belong to?
I'll bet you've always thought that it was.
After all, your family has gone to the same congregation for many years and have raised you in the finest Christian tradition with love and respect for your fellow man -
And those you fellowship with each Sunday are all decent upstanding people.
     Did you say Sunday?
     Then I'm afraid something's wrong.
A True Christian doesn't worship on Sunday.
You see - you can be a fine church going person all your life - a good neighbor, concerned citizen, dedicated parent and a respected elder in your congregation or parish, yet still be spiritually deceived.
For as the prophet Jeremiah foretold of these End Times:

"Our shepherds have caused us to go astray"   Jer 50:6
Is your minister or priest fulfilling this prophecy of Jeremiah?
Which brings us back to the question -
     Which is His Church?
God's True Church is the church that follows His Word and keeps his commandments.
The church that accepts the Holy Scriptures as the only  authoritative source upon which they base their creed.
The church where God's sabbath and commanded Holy Days are kept "as a sign to Him" (Ex 31:13) and practiced just as Christ, "who is our example", did.
Such was the case in the early Apostolic church.
We know through scripture that Jesus (the living Word), personally chose his twelve disciples.  Then instructing them in all things, sent them into the world to spread the Good News of the Kingdom of God.

But what happened to the church from that time to the present -
And what does the Bible tell us about it, that will help us in identifying it today?
